T-3M tramcar

T-3M tramcar is a modern carriage for municipal transport; as of its specifications, it has no analogues within the territory of the former USSR. The car is ecologically friendly; it has improved comfort and convenience, a good design, reliability in operation; it saves costs, is safe for operation in routes with heavy traffic, especially running along the slopes.

The car body has steel-welded structure, made of bent profiles with outside steel casing. The body has modern shape and wide windows, providing standing passengers with a good view from the tramcar.

The tramcar is equipped with three four-leaved folding doors that provide quick and convenient exit and entrance of the passengers. Heating of the passenger's room is made with reactive heating elements, located within the heating channels and side walls of the tramcar. The driver's cabin is heated and ventilated by virtue of a separate unit. The tramcar is equipped with comfortable seats. Lighting of the passengers' room is provied with fluorescent lamps.

The tramcar has a semiautomatic coupler.

The tramcar uses traction motor of TE 023 type with individual ventilation. Traction electric motors of separate running carts are connected pairwise in series and are controlled by a single thyristor pulse converter (for each pair); the converter is placed in a cabinet with individual cooling, together with "motion-brake" contactors, turn indicator switching contactors, switching choke coils and capacitors. Since the contactors switch the current circuits without any current load, their lifetime is extended considerably.

To charge the battery and to provide 24V current circuits supply, a static converter 600/26V with capacity of 3.9 kW is used; the converter guarantees high operation reliability and improvement of electric efficiency.

Electric equipment of the tramcar is provided with a safety system against skidding and slippage; the system responds to the difference in the numbers of revolutions between separate wheel pairs. As a result, operation safety during braking is improved with simultaneous reduction of wear and tear of the wheels.

These have rather simple and expedient structure. Wheel, sprung with spiral springs and rubber elements, guarantee silent and quiet run. Traction motors are placed on the carts in longitudinal direction and are coupled with gear boxes through cardan-joints.

The tramcar is equipped with the following brake types:

  • electrodynamic brake,
  • mechanical disk brake,
  • electromagnet rail brake
